Downey's Restaurant overlooking Penn 's Landing at Front & South Streets opened in Philadelphia in 1976. The restaurant is located in the city's premier neighborhood, Society Hill. The rich mahogany bar, wood panels and stained glass panes were imported from County Cork in Ireland. We are delighted to share these treasures with you and hope they make you feel at home. Our proximity to Historic Philadelphia and Independence Mall makes Downey's an ideal stop for groups requiring a relaxing meal. Group Facilities: Downey's offers group facilities for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner. "Upstairs at Downey's " offers a seating capacity of 125 guests for sit-down meals or buffets, more for a standing cocktail reception.
Food and Service: Downey's serves a varied menu including hearty American and Irish fare. If you have specific dietary requirements, our chef is certified in the nutrition and culinary arts and would be happy to prepare a meal to suit your special requirements. Our professional staff takes great pride and care in ensuring your requests are followed through to your satisfaction. Menu selections must be made 7'days prior to the banquet.
Cancellation Policy: ANON-REFUNDABLE deposit of 50% is required on all banquet functions. The deposit is deductible from your final bill. The balance is due the day of the function.
Guarantees: A guaranteed number of guests will be requested one (1) week prior to your event. If the contract is not returned ,the guaranteed number of guests will be based on your initial estimated of guests vs the actual attendees, whichever is greater.
Contract: Banquet contract must be signed and returned to Downey's 7 days prior to your event. If contract is not returned, guaranteed number of guests will be based as above, your initial estimate vs the actual attendees, whichever is greater.
Additional Charges: There is $100.00 charge for the rental of the entire banquet room ($150.00 for Saturday night). Smaller parties are encouraged to inquire about 1/2 room rates. The bartender fee is $75.00 per bartender. One bartender is mandatory for parties of 15 to 60. Over 60 guests, 2 bartenders are required. Sales tax of 8% is applied to all food, 10% tax is applied to liquor and a 20%service charge .
Audio-Visual: For business meetings, the restaurant can provide audio-visual equipment to handle your requirements. Charges are based on equipment needs.
Handicapped Access: The main dining room is the only access for handicapped patrons.
The banquet facilities are on the second floor. Lavatory facilities are downstairs from the main dining room or on the second floor.
